So while some might blame my feeling shitty on my previous big night, I blame it on the fact that I was simply getting sick.. On our way to Prague, our main stop was Dresden. Everything there was so picturesque. So while everyone else was having lunch at McDonalds (authentic, I know..), I decided to not eat and photo instead.. Let's just say that my sickness (and possible slight hangover ... fine!) + Macca's* would not have made for a pleasant bus ride into Prague.. We got in mid-evening and instead of going straight to our hotel as we usually would, we first did a bit of a walking tour around the castle complex, over the Charles bridge, and through Old Town. Everything was stunning in its own indescribable way, and Prague is really the perfect blend of old and new. However, I would be lying if I said I wasn't excited to make it back to the bus and on our way to our hotel. This non-stop business gets pretty tiring sometimes.. J, Teej, and myself got to our room, only to find that one of our three beds was literally pulled out of a cupboard.. Now, I'm not entirely sure where my train of thought was going during all of this, but something made me decided I should take the tiny cupboard-bed. And so I did. After this night, I believe, we decided that I should just have the bed closest to the door, and easiest to navigate in the dark, as I was always out the latest.. We quickly found that this agreement worked much much better. Our first night in Prague was our first real night in. We had a free night, but most of us decided to go to the bowling alley in the shopping mall next to our hotel. Unfortunately there was only one lane open, and about 15 people who wanted to bowl, so we rotated.. Some of the guys shot some pool while most of the ladies did a lap or two around the mall. My roommates and I picked up a couple things from the grocery store, and made it an early night. Sick-me was soo very excited to finally be getting some sleep, and hopefully kick this bug.. * My Australian companions turned me on to quite a bit of slang during our month-long trip.. For those who don't know, Macca's is short for McDonalds..enjoy! ;]

We met in the lobby this morning so we could go together to meet our guide for our walking tour.
It took up most of the day, and was not only super-informative, but allowed us to see most of the tourist-tourist places in Berlin. So.Much.Info.
After trying to get another stamp on our passports (before realizing none of us had them) at Checkpoint Charlie, a few of us had pizza at this place on Zimmerstraße. J-bird (my roomie), Paula, and myself shopped a little bit after lunch, while the boys (Chris, Tom, & Graeme) waited..as guys do. Conveniently, we were near the Berlin Wall memorial/timeline, so we checked that out before tackling the rest of the things on our to-do list.
We lost a couple people in our group, but made our way to Legoland (when in Berlin.... right?), then realized you not only had to pay, but had to be under a certain age.. Skipped that, and found a shopping mall. Which basically set the mood for the rest of the day. We bumped into a few more historic & touristy things (as you're bound to do in this city) as we made our way to the main shopping streets. Paula bought a dirndl (though I definitely gave her crap seeing as we weren't even in Bavaria yet..), while J and I did some serious shopping for more street-worthy clothes. Lucky (?) for Chris, he got to spend his birthday (yes..) with three ladies shopping. hah..
Later in the day, we made our way through Alexanderplatz and decided to eat at some place near our hotel. Abbey and Connor joined us, and naturally we made friends with our waiter. (Even though he was terrible at remembering things..hahah)
After dinner, we realized what time it was and literally ran back to our hotel (at times risking our lives to Berlin traffic), got ready in record timing, and ran back onto the bus for our Eye Spy Berlin evening.. Which basically meant a little bit of history (from an American tour-guide..aw yeah), and a lot of bar hopping.
Let's just say it was another good night, thanks to Contiki! (Oh, and thank God I found a party buddy for the trip, that night -- Ms. Emma!)

You can just assume by now it was another early morning..
It was also a rough morning, as Amsterdam was good to me. (However it wouldn't be my worst morning..hah) We spent a lot of time on the bus during this tour -- at times driving for 8+ hours a day. I don't recall how long this drive was, but it was a driving day.. Which usually means not much going on (aka not much to blog about). - I mean, we would definitely bond during these driving hours, but it's usually not anything to write home about. Ya dig? - Important to us, not so much to you. I digress..
Long story short, we got to Berlin and did a quick drive around the city for a bit of an orientation. Hopped off for some tourist-tourist pics of Reichstag, and a saw a bit more of Berlin via coach.
We got to our hotel and not long after, walked to dinner. Everything was pretty traditional and were served so much wurst of all different kinds. It really was a great meal to start with in Germany, and even better with a stein of beer. Mmmm..
After dinner, a group of us decided on more steins, and a chill night, so we walked to the nearby Hofbräuhaus. Delicious beer, great server, and the baby has a hat. hahah..

Oh beautiful Amsterdam. I honestly couldn't find one bad thing about this city.. It's almost too perfect to be real. -- Some place you would read about, but knew it could never exist.. That's Amsterdam. Another early morning (a reoccurring theme on this trip) began with loading the bus for our bike ride through Edam. The place was called Bike a Dijk (yes..and if you're ever in the area you should go!), and we rode through the cute little town that Sunday morning. There was a fair in town, and no one was out & about yet, which made it all the more picturesque.. Our next stop was a cheese & clog place - Irene Hoeve, in nearby Katwoude. There were soo many kinds of Gouda to sample and they were all way too delicious..and let's not forget the berry wine. ;] Alas, I bought nothing. (Hmm.) The clog-making demonstration was quite informative, and the man demonstrating makes them so quick! But I suppose one should, if that's what you're known for. There are a ton of benefits to wearing wooden clogs - none that I remember specifically, but you should buy some. Basically. After some photos in the giant clog outside (a tourist must), we drove back into Amsterdam. The bus left us right outside Central Station - Some people wanted to go to the Anne Frank Huis, and though it wasn't on the top of my list of things to do or see, I tagged along. I'm glad I did. Those "stairs" really will kill your shins/knees though.. Take my word for it. Next on the list was the I Amsterdam sign. It meant walking across the whole city, but what better way to see it? We may have gotten lost a few times (I wasn't in charge of the map..), but we saw a lot of the capital! (Also, what is up with those public urinals? Seriously, google it..) // (I can hear Nat, our tour manager, now; "It's not wrong, it's just different...") We took some cheesy tourist-tourist shots, walked around a bit more, bumped into the Heineken brewery, then made our way back home to get ready for dinner/going out. Dinner was in Volendam, which meant fresh fish for dinner. Dinner also meant starting with a shot (Flugel!), and plenty of wine. (!!!) Needless to say we had a nice time. haha Upon getting back into Amsterdam, we were to board a boat for our evening canal cruise. -- This also meant starting with a bottle of Flugel...and then unlimited beer & wine. I'll let you imagine how the night ended.. ;]
